Dev in production!

Turns out its not smart to build in production! Who would have guessed!

Truthfully, I had money near the end of the month and just wanted to get the ball rolling. I knew no one would see this site at the start, so I figured I could update to my hearts content and fix things as I went. But now I am realizing how dumb that was, and how shortsighted lol. I am usually a lot better about planning, but I was eager and it got the best of me.

Working to make the site more like how I'd want it. Namely:

  • Posts like this one should have a url like "nicweyand.com/posts/{slug}/" where {slug} is the title.
  • A table of contents for longer pieces.
  • Various theme issues I didn't fix beforehand.
  • A working podcasts page with players + an RSS feed.
    • And a public RSS for all posts!
  • A better gallery page (the current one is just a page with nothing showing up lol)
  • Some functionality stuff like better accessibility features (namely keyboard navigation and visual description tags for all images)
  • A proper site map & robots.txt.
  • Wacky cool stuff I am experimenting with UwU!

So if there aren't updates regularly... that is why. I am sorry, I should have continued to work in Ghost Local instead of trying to work in production. I am still very happy the site is live and frankly I have no regrets so far, despite my silliness UwU!

Patreon?!!?! Ko-Fi?!!! Where is your loyalty, sir?!!!

If you want details on what is offered to members, click here or scroll to the bottom. This is a post about a dumb stigma lol.

So here's the thing: people have faves elsewhere, besides my faves. There are, shockingly, people who like to use Facebook even though its a cess pit. There are, for whatever reason, people who claim they are not nazis using Twitter in 2025 AD, mostly because they've had the account forever and don't want to migrate elsewhere. Along those lines most people I know split their payment options to creators 4 ways: Patreon, Kofi, buying merch and maaaaaaaaybe the donate button to PayPal or GoFundMe. So the strategy here is just having a way for people to support me on every platform.

There seems to be a stigma against having multiple accounts, like its dirty or disloyal. Some people like to pretend there's rules against having multiple accounts, or that "double dipping" is unethical, or "against terms of service". Its not. And if it is: so what?

I do not respect most companies these days, and I don't particularly care to follow a companies rules if it is inherently restrictive, like a "do not compete" clause in a contract. My bet is that any restrictions in place (if any) will be made illegal, similar to "do not compete" clauses being abolished, because... obviously.

The companies in question do not respect in the first place. This notion that it is "unloyal" or "rude" is silly.

Now that we got that out of the way: All exclusive content will be present across both Patreon, Ko-Fi, this Ghost blog and any other services I use for support. Generally, most things will not be paywalled, but I will have a sprinkling of exclusives as a thank you to supporters.

The price for entry will remain $7, I believe that is high enough to offset future costs of inflation etc., while being low enough that is is (relatively) affordable. I know this is asking a lot, and I intend to earn your $7 each month you give me.

TLDR: All paywalled content is equal, there are no platform exclusive things. Some people prefer Patreon, others like KoFi. Everyone gets supporter-only stuff, starting at $7/mo, regardless of platform.

The art is by BigGoodWolf on FurAffinity! You can see more like it on my personal FA page, but I will use my commissions as background images from time to time UwU!

I will be writing here a lot more often, including a better "About Me" page lol.
